Indian Summer of Cricket in Australia

It's been after long time, I am blogging. There's no real point in writing about Cricket at this time, coz, the GREAT India tour of Australia has already faded into the past. Even then, I think, I cannot start blogging without mentioning it.

It was really a GREAT series. It had everything. the fire, the power, controversy, intimidation and the victory.

The umpiring blunders of 2nd Test in Sydney started it all. Then the racism allegation! I felt that Australia was trying to use again the 'racist card' to divert attention from the the way they won the second test. But it backfired. Australia lost its moral ground, and also their confidence. On the other hand, India was thriving on their bruises. It did a magic at Perth. A win against Australia. It seemed that Kumble was happy enough to accept a draw in Adelaide; and he got it. End of Australian dominance in Cricket.

Then came the ODIs. Dhoni's young turks! Australian didn't have a clue in the finals! A complete whitewash - 2 - nil, and the Harbajan - Hayden row. It was disgusting to listen to the interview of Hayden on radio. But Baaji had the last laugh.

One who laugh last, laughs better.

Morale: End of Australian dominance in Cricket. May be not only on field, but off the field and in the Board room as well. I mean, the IPL phenomenon. The center of gravity of World cricket has been brutally shifted to the Indian subcontinent.

Cricket is only a beginning, I think. Much more to come. India and China will play big roles in the world affairs in the very near future.

Tail piece: Now, Jaguar and Land Rover are Indian brands - after their acquisition by the Tatas!
